Self-love submissions

Self-love submissions

There’s one thing you can guarantee each Valentine’s Day - there will always be someone with a world of love in your corner, and that person is you.

This season, we’re letting our self-love moments shine; whether it’s through positive self-talk or treating ourselves (ahem, our V-Day Bundle might do the trick!)

We've all learned some important lessons in self-love. Here are some submissions from our team.

Sophie

Growing up, self-love wasn’t a thing. I was my own worst critic, constantly believing people wouldn’t like me just as I was. It was a battle inside my head. But slowly as I got older, and particularly when I became a mother, things shifted. I started challenging those negative voices, embracing my flaws, and celebrating my strengths. It’s not about erasing imperfections, but learning to live with them, recognising they are part of me.

Self-love for me is less about grand gestures and more about small acts of self-compassion. It has been a journey of changing my mindset, and though insecurities still pop up, I now know I am enough, just as I am.

Talk to yourself like you’re talking to the love of your life. Call yourself pretty, smart, kind, and eventually you’ll fall in love.

I’ve always been taught the importance of self-talk, it’s the building blocks to your self-esteem, and even on days where I don’t believe it, I still take a moment to pause and think about the things I love.

Erin

As a busy mum, I'm not always very good at prioritising myself.  But I'm learning that I don't need to feel guilty for doing this, even if it's getting out for some exercise on my own, having dinner out with friends, or having some time alone to read a good book goes a long way in filling my cup!

Life is short and time is precious – fill it with people you love and always have fun.

Lori

I’ve always had a strong gut instinct, but over the years, I’ve truly learned to trust it.

Whether it’s in business, relationships, or life’s big decisions, I’ve become confident in backing myself. Instead of overanalysing or seeking external validation, I listen to that inner voice and make choices with clarity and conviction. The more I trust myself, the more aligned and empowered I feel—and that’s a kind of self-love I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Katherine

I’m conscious of body positivity, particularly with my two young - and highly impressionable - children. Growing up we were always surrounded by the negatives. “You look great in that top!” was met with an “Oh gosh no, look at my arms!”

I make sure I always say positive things about myself (and correct anyone else who may say something less than stellar about themselves). Looking in the mirror I’ll exclaim “Wow I look/feel beautiful” and when my daughter asks why my tummy is soft; “yes isn’t it amazing - that was your home!” The best part? The more I say it, the more I believe it.

Luke

Self-love for me is fairly simple – but effective. A 5km run a couple of times a week and a game of social basketball where I can. Before bed reading on mindset and stretching is a regular thing I try to do – as well as share some of my wife’s skincare. Mecca SPF50+ Facial sunscreen is also essential, I had a melanoma removed and skin graft on my nose a couple of years back.

I love setting boundaries for how to be treated, whether it be by strangers, friends, family or partners.

Setting boundaries around the energy and treatment you allow in your life is huge, but learning how to communicate them effectively is also just as important—we’re not about just cutting people out. Focusing on this has seriously improved and deepened so many of my relationships over the past few years.

Rach

I’ve really noticed the importance of those micro-joy moments. The little things you can do in your life that make you happy.

For me, moving my body with some Pilates is always important, as well as a yum acai bowl, an everything shower, facemasks, and a good tv show.
